CopRice Cobden Spring Festival 2007 Report
What an amazing weekend we had!!!
Friday saw 450 students attend the Careers Expo at the Tech, 100 attend the Cobrico Old Time Dance celebration and unfortunately a small crowd at the country and western night at the Golf Club.
Saturday saw around 1500-2000 people all over our CBD with an amazing array of activities and entertainment on offer. The Fonterra street parade was a real highlight and we hope that the sidewalk sale was a real success for you.
Sunday saw an even bigger crowd with estimates of 3000 at the Grayland St complex. Again we had a great range of activities and were delighted with the amazing support of many Cobden groups businesses and individuals.
There is absolutely no doubt that Cobden was buzzing and everyone can certainly feel proud to be a Cobdenite. Well done!!!
The organising committee was delighted with the whole Festival and was very proud to be a part of it all.
Thanks goes to Barb Cowley, Alma McDonald, Milton Parlour, Nigel Cunningham, Bob Anderson, Heather Walsh, Dennis Walsh, Garry Ross and Frank Martin.
We thank the businesses who donated prizes for the 5 Raffle sections. Your support is very much appreciated.
Other businesses will have their donations in the 4 Hamper prizes as part of the Cobden Community Bank Christmas Celebration Night.
A review of CopRice Cobden Spring Festival will take place at 6.30pm at the Heytesbury Room, Civic Hall on Mon Dec 5. You are welcome to attend.
One of the main issues will be discussion of Road Closures for the Festival, with a particular suggestion of closing Curdie St from 9.00 to 2.30 on the Saturday. Public safety is a huge part of this. Again your thoughts are welcomed on this topic.
